Global Management Skills Whiteboard includes a systemic approach to management functions. It expands planning, organizing, leading, and controlling concepts to a change and innovation cloud that uses social media and technology. It also expands to environmental and global factors. Management functions go well beyond traditional planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. #Management as part of #globalsysystems requires integration of people, #communications, teamwork, evaluation, and feedback. #Leadership skills are needed for leaders, managers, and taskers. #StrategicManagement skills are needed for #Vision, #Mission, and #Goals. #ProjectManagement skills are needed to allocate people, time, and money. #Information is needed for #businessintelligence and #competitiveadvantage. #TechnologyManagement is needed to drive change and innovation. #Environmental issues #sustainability and #socialresponsibility are needed to embrace #GlobalManagement. #drjosecampus #drjosewhiteboards

TECHKnowledge: Global Management Online Education and Technology | Dr. Jose G. Lepervanche

TECHKnowledge: Online Education and Technology

2015-TechKnowledgeBoxTiffPng-992x1024.png

Be outside of the box! Analyze, Evaluate, Create (vs Remember, Understand, Apply)

We combine two popular ideas. 1. “Think outside of the box”used to expand our way of thinking to explore different perspectives. It was a popular concept during our MIT courses in the 70s. We expanded this idea to “Be outside of the box”. This idea is to go beyond thinking and be an instrument of action and change outside your comfort zone. 2. Incorporate the use of the top of Blooms’ Taxonomy in our learning initiatives. Education should move from “Remember, Understand, and Apply” to more “Analyze, Evaluate, and Create”.

New management, leadership, and technology realities require people with TECHKnowledge who can combine organization and management skills with emerging technologies to create new products and services. It is not enough to think outside of the box. We need to be outside of the box to assess risks, explore new opportunities, and take creative actions.

What is your organization doing to improve training, education, performance, and systems to cope with today’s global and local challenges? Why or why not these ideas could be useful in your organization?

TED-Ed, TED and TEDx Talks to Enhance Classroom Learning Experience

Screen Shot 2014-08-10 at 8.20.56 PM

TED, TED-Ed, and TEDx Talks have been used to enhance instruction beyond our classrooms. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading that started bringing together people from three worlds—technology, entertainment, and design. TED’s scope has become ever broader. We have tested several widgets and gadgets to bring new ideas to classroom and online learning. TED videos have been embedded into discussions, announcements, and newsletters to generate online discussions, small group discussions, and postvideo assignments. Thanks to these activities and more, the first TEDxFSCJ (www.tedxfscj.com) event was planned for Fall 2014. Aug 2014.

TEDxFSCJ TED-Ed Learning Experience

TED, TED-Ed, and TEDx Talks have been used to enhance management instruction beyond our classrooms. 2014 FSCJ Convocation was the ideal scenario to introduce these learning adventures to FSCJ faculty and staff. Expanding TEDxFSCJ beyond the learning edge #onecollege #tedxfscj

TEDxFSCJ Club Student Leadership Experience

TEDxFSCJ Club was created to bring FSCJ students the opportunity to produce TEDx and TEDx Salon events. The president of the Club is the TEDxFSCJ Executive Producers and students have role in planning, marketing, identification, etc. Faculty and staff mentors are assigned to guide the students. The TEDxFSCJ Organizer is the mentor of the Executive Producer. The students create the events, the program, select the videos, and select and curated the speakers. Speech professors are the coaches of TEDxFSCJ speakers.  The learning experience occurs in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the TEDx events.

TEDxFSCJ Inaugural Day and Next TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures | #TEDxFSCJ

TEDxFSCJ Day and Next TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures. #TEDxFSCJ

On September 27, 2014 we all were on the top of TEDxFSCJ mountain. After months of climbing and building blocks, we reached FSCJ #OneCollege Summit.

We all were on the stage of Wilson Center. 100 attendees, caped by TEDx first timers’ rule, filled the stage facing our elevated red carpeted stage and screen with the unusual background of empty theater seats. All audience, speakers and volunteers had the experience of being part of a learning “performance” on stage. All attendees were “beyond the learning edge” getting new lessons from our speakers. As they entered the theater expecting to be in the patio or balcony, they were ushered to seats on the stage. Some of them commented: “weird”, “wow”, “what?”, “amazing”, “interesting”, etc. They did not know what to expect but their time on stage was filled with lifelong lessons.

These are the new challenges. TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures continue after this day with videos, blogs, pictures, and new TED Ed lessons, TEDxFSCJ Blackboard and Facebook groups, TEDxFSCJ Salon at FSCJ Deerwood with focus on technologies and education, TEDxFSCJ seminars and conferences to share the lessons and learning tools, and of course our next TEDxFSCJ events.

Speakers, attendees, volunteers, and team are all TEDxFSCJ Ambassadors to share the experience, the ideas, and the challenges. We are now part of a global TEDx community.

Thank you all for creating and maintaining TEDxFSCJ. Yesterday, we were on the top of TEDxFSCJ mountain. Now it is time to hike down and start climbing our next mountains. Enjoy the journey. TEDxFSCJ is a lifelong learning adventure.

Dr. Jose Lepervanche, TEDxFSCJ Organizer. Sep 2014.

University of the People: An ultra-low-cost college degree | Shai Reshef | TED 2014

Screen Shot 2017-10-27 at 12.46.56 AM

I have created a new TED ED lesson about how technologies and new business educational models to be used in higher education courses. Our TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures continue using this TED Talk in online discussions in Strategic Management, Information Systems, and Management courses.
What do you think about this online education model? Why would you consider or not a tuition-free graduate degree? Why employers would hire or not a MBA graduate from an online university? Search for reports and post your views.

At the online University of the People, anyone with a high school diploma can take classes toward a degree in business administration or computer science — without standard tuition fees (though exams cost money). Founder Shai Reshef hopes that higher education is changing “from being a privilege for the few to a basic right, affordable and accessible for all.”

Future tech will give you the benefits of city life anywhere | Julio Gil | TED@UPS

LESSON CREATED BY JOSE G. LEPERVANCHE USING VIDEO FROM TED YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Thinking about Country Living. Don’t believe predictions that say the future is trending towards city living. Urbanization is actually reaching the end of its cycle, says logistics expert Julio Gil, and soon more people will be choosing to live (and work) in the countryside, thanks to rapid advances in augmented reality, autonomous delivery, off-the-grid energy and other technologies.

Leadership, Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Development Goals | TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures

Global Learning Opportunities Building Engagement (GLOBE) project integrating United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals with TED Talks related to Leadership and Social Responsibility. Students select TED videos and produce an individual report about speaker contributions to one or more SDGs. Teams select a video to produce a TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures’ presentation. Students select the best videos to create a TED Ed Lesson for online discussions. This GLOBE project idea can be used for future courses including new TED Talks and different SDGs.
