When we visited Japan during 2015 World Scout Jamboree we were impacted by their culture, history, technology, companies, and the ability to have more than 34,000 scouts from than 150 countries engage with nature, water, science, and worldwide Scouting. We visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and learned about their Hiroshima Peace Program. We came back committed to integrate all learning experiences to improve business management and youth leadership instruction. We combined all learning content with other resources including TED, TEDx, and TED Ed lessons and started working for a better world. Later we added the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We used TEDxFSCJ lessons to create TED Ed Lessons and delivered TECH Knowledge Workshops to use technology to combine TED Ed Lessons into Learning Management systems for online courses.

TECH Workshop

We used our TECH Knowledge ideas to impuse our “be-outside-of-the-box” initiatives that include the top of Bloom’s taxonomy, outdoors learning, outdoors classrooms, and outdoors university concepts.

We created TEDxFSCJ Learning Adventures to bring TED, TEDx, and TED Ed Lessons to discussions, assignments, and team projects and to schedule end of term roundtables to discuss the courses topics and their relationship with specific SDGs.

TEDxFSCJ LearnAdv Goals Fall 2018 (4)

We included our Global Learning Opportunities Building Engagement (GLOBE) educational model to connect blogs, social media, multigenerational students, Scouts, TED, TEDx, and TED Ed lessons with the SDGs. We integrated all mentioned tools to Learning Management systems and online courses to enhance outdoors classrooms and learning to educate the digital leaders of tomorrow.

We used our Personal Leadership System and personal SWOT analysis to connect our beliefs, values, and priorities with the SDGs.

000-3

Next, we used all these resources and models to connect our personal vision and goals with service projects in our communities to start selecting specific SDGs.

Don’t Follow Your Passion, Take It With You! shared by Mike Rowe

Know your Strengths to find Opportunities.

The Reset Blog

If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins.

-Benjamin Franklin-

What if you were told not to follow your passion, rather to bring it alongside with you? Countless motivational speakers, successful people and even our parents tell us to follow our passion. Could they all be wrong? Today’s Daily Dose shared by PragerU and narrated by Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs explains how not following your passion can lead to finding it in the end.

Mike shares a story with us about missed opportunity, explaining how our happiness does not always depend of the type of job we perform. He shares a story of a septic tank entrepreneur who became financially successful and did so because the market was untapped, not because it was his passion! So, Mike continues to tell us that many awesome opportunities are available to us while we are still discovering and nurturing our passion. Don’t pass…

TECHKnowledge: Next Manager Challenges

TECHKnowledge: Next Manager Challenges. Coronavirus 2020 Update

#Coronavirus2020 update: Global pandemic has changed everything. People, companies, and governments have to re-assess all strategic plans and immediate actions. In the past we mentioned all the variables impacting the next managers. Now we have to assess the new impact of living and working after lockdowns de-escalate to start going back to the new “normal”. Check our video and see how we can update these concepts to the new reality. As you know, all our courses are online learning laboratories. We have to construct our new TECHKnowledge as we go. Please share your views, plans, and workplace situations.

Next Manager Challenges are a combination of personal, professional, and technology knowledge needed to be successful. We used this graph adapted from several resources related to self-awareness, change, learning styles, intelligences, and strategies. It is a visual resource to put these pieces together. We started following our Personal Leadership System® model.

SWOT. We started our exploration of these challenges by addressing the importance of our personal SWOT. We need to know our Strengths and Weaknesses to be able to find new Opportunities and be aware of future Threats.

Values. We explored personal and cultural values to talk about beliefs, ethical decisions, and priorities. Study of our values led us to have a better understanding of doing a personal SWOT analysis. Values provides the starting point to the Be-Know-Do-Have sequence.

Self-assessment. In order to complete our personal SWOT, specifically in identifying our Strengths and Weaknesses, it is important to evaluate ourselves. We can learn about our personalities and attitudes, and explore the different intelligences to find our fit.

Learning style. Another important component in doing our personal SWOT is to understand how we learn. Different methods and surveys help. Our graph uses some examples about visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, It also mentions is we learn by knowing, doing, planning, leading or creating. When assembling a team, it is wise to have different kind of learners.

Change. This is a constant in life and we have to learn how to embrace it. How we orient ourselves to accept planned and unexpected changes. We need to evaluate risks and be prepared for emergencies.

TECHKnowledge. Emerging Technologies are vital for personal and personal performance in our workplace and communities. Embracing new systems, methods, procedures, and devices is vital for success and survival. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is one tool that allow us to select proper technologies based on usefulness and easy of use . Learning fast about technology changes will increase our knowledge base.

Technology Management. Next Manager should have a solid foundation in business and technology concepts. IT is now embedded in all organizations and personal life. The TECHCitizen woks and function in front of several screens.

Global Management.  Besides Technology Management, a personal SWOT analysis will also help to explore our world and find global opportunities. Global Learning, Global Engagement, Globalization, and Global Management are some of the concepts that involve Global Knowledge.

TECHKnowledge Challenges for the Next Manager include more than these points. These ones focus on the person. Creating self-awareness and knowing us better are vital tools to perform better at home, our communities, and the workplace.

Management of Personal Systems. Be Prepared to Change and Lead Yourself to Higher Levels. A Personal Leadership System®. u01 Overview. Time is one thing in the world that we cannot change. Information, communications, family, friends, and work overload our time. We fill our day with activities that overwhelm our capacity to handle them. We need extreme time management methods to cope with stress, un-productivity, and procrastination. Is not about multi-tasking, it is about packed-tasking. Time survivors keep them busy without losing sanity. Busy people always have time to do more. Lazy people always complain about the things they cannot do.
